Ah, sunny, sunny Adelaide
Jan. 7th, 2007 04:08 pmI really need to start getting used to the heat here. It's hot, and actually muggy, and it's killing my energy levels!
Not much to report, really. My parents picked me up from the airport, and we all went to visit my Uncle Bryan, which was good fun. It's good to see relatives, since I so rarely do these days. I had kinda thought that talking about my boyfriend to my uncle would be a touch less awkward, seeing as he happens to be gay, but clearly not so much. My parents being there as well probably didn't help.
After that, spent a night with my Nanna and Grampa. Again, It was good to see them again, though it's kinda sad to see how they're starting to deteriorate. My Nanna's now walking around with a walking frame because her knees are that bad, although my grandpa seems to be quite fit, if a little thin (but then, he's a small guy anyway).
Yesterday was Aaron's bachelor party, which of course included no naked women and no alcohol, but did include bowling, Daytona and CCGs (I didn't really participate in the CCGs, because I don't really play World of Warcraft CCG...).
Of course, the fact that the heat was killing my energy levels meant that I probably didn't participate as fully as I really should have. It's occuring to me exactly how divergent my primary geekdoms are to the primary geekdoms to Aaron's circle of friends. I'm not really a comic-book geek, or a CCG geek (at least, not anymore). Worse, they're all a cohesive group, and it's rather difficult to try and penetrate from the outside (although I'm sure I managed to get a few connections through).
After the bachelor party ended at about 1-2ish, I then continued the tradition of me and Aaron staying up until 5am talking and arguing. Bizarrely, it has really recharged my batteries.
Today... well, I only got up about an hour ago, and Aaron won't be back for an hour or so, so I think today is a recharge day...
