Damn Decent Television Hour...
Why do all the good shows have to be on at 9:30 on a Monday?
Seven's got Crossing Jordan (which, yeah, is American cop show at it's best, but is still fun to watch)
Nine's got Cold Case (Fan boy...)
Ten's got Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Which is fun, amusing and educational...)
SBS's got Oz (which is edgy, and in a good way).
I swear, if Cold Case hadn't nabbed me first, I'd so be screaming right now. And there's not enough VCRs in the house to record all of them!

Cold Case is at its absolute best when Lilly's investigating either:-
a). A case before 1970, such as 'The Boy In The Box' or the one surrounding gaybashing in sixties Philadelphia.
b). An eighties case with an especially cheesy soundtrack and many, many pop-culture references.
I _love_ the theme - 'Nara' by E.S. Posthumus. So very, very gothy!

That, and the entire show is just beautiful. For me, it's the music that grabs me every time. The episode "Fly Away", the final song (DJ Sammy's Heaven, Candlelight Remix) just brought me to tears. Literally. The only time I've ever cried after watching a television show.
Whoever the Music director there is, he is a god...

Was 'Fly Away' the episode where the little girl was thrown from the window? That one had quite an impact on me.
The one about the abortionists and the gaybashing episode were both pretty masterful too, but my favorite was 'Boy In The Box' for sheer pathos and oddness (the whole irradiated foods subplot).
