I swear it must be Calibration...
Mar. 8th, 2004 01:54 pmThe last few days have been... odd.
OK. First up, I went to Lara's house to enjoy and relax in her company (since we realised that we needed to spend more time together alone). We spent most of the time watching each other play video games, but then, we both enjoyed ourselves, and that was the main thing.
Of course, Lara had to check her e-mail due to having to grab stuff from uni workmates (she has a debate to do the second week back! Insane!). That's when she found out that a new person had walked onto the forum she Admins, and had caused several of the old-timers to leave, due to the new users insistence on doing whatever the damn hell they wanted. She's currently still working on that problem.
Then, sunday morning we headed home (I have roleplaying at my house on Sundays, so we do tend to need to rush home). I found out two other rather bad things have happened - my older brother Mathew has split up with his girlfriend of at least 2-3 months, and he's totally devastated. To compound the problem, My Dad formatted the Hard Drive on the Saturday so we could try and fix it.
Unfortunately, I was the only person to have backed up any of my personal files. And I'm fairly sure that I didn't back up everything. This hits Mathew worst of all, mostly because I'm fairly sure he has a ton of digital camera photos on his computer, as well as school work, Massive MP3 collection...
It not, by any sense of the term, a good weekend. I swear we're in the middle of Calibration. For those who aren't aware of the significance of the term, ( Signficance of Calibration )
I'm now attempting to see if I can arrange a cheap(er) session at a Data Recovery Lab, see if we can't get something out of the hard drive. I don't hold much hope for it - It's been formatted to a new File System, had Win2K installed three times, etc.
I hope Calibration ends soon. I don't wanna see the finale...
